SEPTEMBER: National Preparedness Month
Are you and your family prepared for disasters? Your level of preparedness will make a difference in how you survive and recover from disaster. September is National Preparedness Month, and it’s the perfect time to increase your personal preparedness.
Take Action
- Know Your Risk
- Be prepared for the hazards that are most likely in Teton County, such as earthquakes and wildfires.
- Make a Plan
- Use an online template or an app to fill out a complete emergency plan. See the Learn More section below.
- Take Action
- Build or update your disaster supplies kit.
- Secure important documents.
- Have the right insurance that covers specific hazards that may affect you.
Tip
In rural areas like Wyoming, your emergency survival kit should contain supplies for every family member (and pets) for 2 weeks. You may choose to make several kits: one at home, a smaller kit if you need to evacuate your home, one for your workplace, and one for your car.
