Reading Mountain Weather | June 19
Thursday, June 19th | 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
This course offers an introduction to basic meteorology and a discussion with meteorologist Jim Woodmency of how the mountains in and around Jackson Hole affect our local weather patterns. This course will be geared toward backcountry users to hone their skills at interpreting the weather and understanding mountain weather patterns.
Jim has been forecasting the weather in Jackson Hole and the Teton Mountains for more than 20 years. He is the chief meteorologist at mountainweather.com and his forecast can also be heard on local radio stations, 92.3 & 103.7 FM. As a former climbing ranger in Grand Teton National Park and ski guide for
High Mountain Heli Skiing, Jim understands how important weather is to the backcountry user. Pre-registration is requested for both courses as space is limited. Courses are held in the Teton County/ Jackson Recreation Center Meeting Room.
