Our High Adventure Expeditions are intended for High School and Middle School age students due to the nature of the courses.  If you are looking for outings and adventures for younger students, please visit our Day Trips & Overnight Excursions page.  


Sea Kayak Trip to Lewis and Shoshone Lakes in Yellowstone

Spend three days and two nights exploring Lewis and Shoshone Lake by sea kayak. . Participants meet at the recreation center and drive to Lewis Lake where experienced guides with Rendezvous River Sports will lead the groups to remote campsites on the shores of Shoshone Lake.

A complete list of items to bring will be available at the front desk of the recreation center or on our website. Some camping gear is available at the recreation center. All kayaking equipment will be provided.

Middle School Climbing Club

The Middle School Climbing Club continues in partnership with Exum Mountain Guides! Now it’s time to start getting outside and explore different climbing opportunities around Jackson Hole. Participants meet at the recreation center and will be transported to various climbing sites and locations. Expert guides and instruction will make this class fun for all. All gear and equipment will be provided. Tuesdays will focus on different aspects of climbing including bouldering at the boulder park, climbing at Enclosure Climbing, search and rescue, and other climbing related topics. Thursdays will be dedicated to climbing outings to places like Jenny Lake Practice Rocks, Boulder City, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and other areas with Exum Mountain Guides.

Participants will need to bring lunch, water bottle, appropriate climbing clothes, daypack, and sunscreen.

June 16 - July 9 | Tuesdays & Thursdays

Circumnavigation of Yellowstone Lake

The trip of a lifetime! Starting at Grant Village in YNP, participants will sea kayak to a different campsite each day, explore the South Arm of Yellowstone Lake and finish at Sedge Bay near the base of Sylvan Pass. Explore a part of Yellowstone that most people never see. Travel to areas open only to paddle craft where there is abundant wildlife, geo-thermal features, amazing scenery and solitude.

Rock Climbing Camp at City of Rocks with Exum Mountain Guides

Participants will have the opportunity to spend five days and four nights at the City of Rocks located outside of Twin Falls, Idaho climbing with Exum Mountain Guides. Climbing technique, belaying, top roping, multi-pitch climbing, rappelling, anchor building and mock leading are some of the topics that will be covered during this camp.

All transportation, meals and fees are included in the cost of this trip. A complete list of items to bring will be available at the front desk of the Recreation Center.  Some camping gear is available at the recreation center.

July 12 - July 16 | Monday through Friday (includes 4 overnights)

Whitewater Rafting Guide Program

Ever wonder what it takes to be a river rafting guide? Now’s your chance to find out. Participants take part in a week-long program specifically geared towards learning how to be a rafting guide. For five days, the professional staff from Rendezvous River Sports will instruct rafters about river reading, guiding, safety and rescue, cooking, camping, nature interpretation, raft rigging, knot tying, raft maintenance and repair, care for the natural environment and river preservation.

All paddling gear and equipment will be provided. Participants will need to bring lunch, water bottle, and a change of dry clothes.

July 6 - July 10 | Monday through Friday

Gannett Peak, Highest Peak in Wyoming

At 13,804' elevation, Gannett Peak is one of the most remote highpoints in the United States and the highest peak in Wyoming. This is a strenous trip, heavy packs, long distances and a remote setting will make this a difficult but rewarding trip. It will take two days hiking just to reach basecamp. Two days will be set aside to climb Gannett and two more days to get back to the trailhead.

July 20 - July 25 | Monday through Saturday

Middle School Paddling Club

The Middle School Paddling Club will explore local waters paddling kayaks, canoes, stand up paddle boards and sea kayaks.

July 28 - August 6 | Tuesdays & Thursdays

Rock Climbing at City of Rocks 

Middle school climbing club participants will have the opportunity to spend four days and three nights at the City of Rocks located outside of Twin Falls, ID.

August 11 - August 14 | Tuesday through Friday
Approriate for students ages:  11-14
Fee:  $300

Snake River Days 2015

Snake River Days is an incredibly fun, adventure-filled, and active five day camp for middle school age youth (entering 6th – 8th grade). An introduction to the Snake River watershed through activities and experiences that include river hydrology, flat water canoeing and kayaking, aquatic entomology (bugs), fly fishing, plant, mammal and bird exploration, and floating scenic and whitewater sections of the Snake River.

An overnight camping trip along the Snake River is included. Staffed by Snake River Fund and parks and recreation staff, this program will only accept a maximum of 18 students. Mad River Boat Trips will provide rafts and guides for the final two days of the program which will include floating from Wilson to South Park while camping along the way and paddling through the Snake River Canyon whitewater.

August 17 - August 21 | Monday through Friday
Appropriate for students ages:  11-14
Fee:  $250

Climbing and Fishing in the Wind River Range

Join us for an unforgettable wilderness experience in one of the most wild and scenic landscapes in North America, the Wind River Range. Starting at Big Sandy Opening, we will basecamp for four nights near Rapid Lake, spending the days alternating between climbing high peaks, fishing clear waters and hiking high mountain passes.
